I. THE NECESSITY OF A HEART CONVERSION (Inward focused to outward) – Matthew 18:1-4
A. A conversion involving childlike humility – this was the concern of Jesus! And should be for US, too!
o Mark 9:35b, Matthew 6:33, Philippians 2:3-5, Colossians 3:12-13
Question: When leading other why do it?
B. Without a Heart conversion, there is no salvation
o John 3:3; Acts 3:17-19; Colossians 2:12-14; Titus 3:5-7; Philippians 2:12-13; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Question: Have you submitted to the working of God in your life? Adult Baptism? Meekness?
II. THE SIN OF STUMBLING BLOCKS –Matthew 18:5-7
A. Who are the the “children”?
o 1 John 2:1-2; 12-18 – “The Sheep”
B. The terribleness of causing children to sin…
o 1 Corinthians 8:9-13
C. How one can put stumbling blocks in a child’s way?
Question: Do you make stumbling blocks for others?
III. THE HUMILITY TO FIGHT SIN – Matthew 18:8-9
A. Some deny punishment after death, but not Jesus
o Hebrews 10:28-29
B. We should, therefore, take sin seriously
